Curious About Puppy Potty Training

My kids have been asking to get a dog for a while now. I have put it off because I felt that they were just too young. However, they are getting older and more mature and responsible so I think that they might be ready. I am curious about Puppy Potty Training though. It has been a long time since I have had a new dog. When I was a kid, my parents handled most of the training of our dogs. I know that there are new ways to train a dog too, so before we decide, I am going to look into it a bit more.
