Limit the Number of Inquiries Into Your Credit File

April 30th, 2009

Having too many inquiries on your credit report can have a negative impact on your potential for obtaining credit. Creditors look at how many times you have attempted to obtain the same credit they are offering from others, and wonder why you were turned down. Multiple inquiries over a short period of time can also have a negative impact on your overall credit score because you lose points with each inquiry that is made. Therefore, limit your credit applications in order to avoid this. You not only want to be approved, but you also want to not be perceived as a credit risk.
