An interesting development is underway within the real estate industry where many real estate professionals are now embracing Web 2.0 and becoming rather savvy at communicating with their communities and potential clients through their own personal real estate blog.
If you are relocating to a specific city or area, the local real estate blogs are becoming a resource that should not be missed. At their very best you will find they share similar attributes to local media companies although they will have a urber-local community slant.
Want to know more about life in a particular neighborhood? How school districts are organized? Where the best shopping is? Restaurant reviews or the best local spots to go for a weekend outing? The local real estate blog may very well have the best answers to these questions.
As part of my job as a web developer I often find myself scanning local real estate websites from all over the country picking up design ideas and checking out local content. Thus I would like to share an example of one of the best local real estate blogs I have run across: The Huntsville Alabama Real Estate Blog.
I chose this particular area as an example because one of its characteristics is heavy inbound relocations due to its current and projected employment growth. It is also a medium sized market with a metro population nearing 300,000 thus it was quite easy to pick out the Best of the Best example.
You will find all of the classic article types mentioned above and they will be original content written by locals about their community. However the thing that impressed me the most was how their blog articles were tightly integrated into the websites property search function. All real estate websites have a property search function but few integrate original local content within this feature. Thus if you are viewing a particular home listing and would like to explore local articles about the neighborhood’s location, amenities, restaurants, etc, it is only a click away. There was little doubt in my mind that my little sister had come of age when she stated to ask me about life insurance. She did not know whether to purchase an annuity, or an endowment policy. As her interest was in being able to have insurance now and an income later I recommend that she go to her computer and search online life insurance quotes for both types of insurance. At least in this way she could review the cost and benefits of the various policies without having the pressure of an salesman trying to push the product that gave him the biggest commission.

I want to find the best car for my family. I just don’t know the best way to find the right car. I want it to be something that all of us can fit in and have lots of room to take stuff along, like our pets, or things for the beach. So, I have decided that I want to go to the Public Car Auction to look at what they have. I know I can find the best deal, so I am going to get it for a good price and have everything I want in the best car I can find.
